Token board for the classroom: whiteboard, projector or Chromebook

A classroom token board is a shared or individual board that students fill by earning tokens for on-task behavior, routines and transitions. The free online board runs on an interactive whiteboard, a projector, a Chromebook or the teacher's laptop, with no login and nothing to install.

Open the board

Whole class or one student?

Use one board for the whole class when the goal is a shared routine, and one board per student when a student has an individual goal. For the class: 10 slots for a lesson, a token for each quiet transition or finished task, and a class reward when the board is full (extra recess, a game, choosing the song). For one student: open the board on that student's Chromebook or on your laptop, use 3 to 5 slots, and let the student pick the reward. The board saves one setup per browser, so for several students use one device each, or reset the board between students.

Interactive whiteboard or projector

Open token-board.app, press Fullscreen, and the board fills the screen. On a touch whiteboard the students tap the slots themselves; with a projector the teacher taps on the laptop and the class watches the token pop in. The tone plays through the room speakers when the laptop is connected to them; the 🎨 Style button under the board opens a sound switch if you want it quiet.

Chromebook

The board works in Chrome with nothing to install. Bookmark it or pin the tab. It keeps the title, reward and tokens between lessons on that Chromebook, even after a restart.

Transitions and routines

Give a token for the moments that are hard: lining up, switching centers, coming back from recess, packing up. Say what earned the token ("Everyone was ready in one minute"). Keep the reward for the same day; tomorrow is too far for most children.

10 slots for a lesson

Ten slots fit a 40 to 60 minute lesson: one token every few minutes of on-task work, a full board at the end. Start the next lesson with "Hooray!" to clear the board, or keep the tokens if the class is still working toward the reward.
